Yahoo Launches Mail and Messenger Apps for Android

Yahoo today launched Yahoo Mail and Messenger apps for Android, as well as Yahoo Search Widget for Android. It also created new, faster HTML5-based Yahoo Mail and News sites for iPhone and iPod touch.

Yahoo Mail features push notification for new e-mail messages, search by sender, recipient, subject and keywords, support for emoticons and spam management. Users can send e-mails to contacts from both the Yahoo Address Book and the native phone address book, attach photos to e-mails directly from the phone’s camera or the photo gallery, as well as view and download attachments.

The Messenger app is available globally, just like Yahoo Mail, and it lets users stay connected with the app working in the background, receive push notifications when new messages and friend requests arrive, use emoticons, and send photos to friends directly from the phone’s camera or the photo gallery.

Furthermore, users who reside in Canada, Indonesia, India, Kuwait, Malaysia, Philippines, Pakistan, Thailand, United States and Vietnam can send instant messages to friends in these countries via SMS.
The U.S. only Yahoo Search Widget brings a Yahoo Search box to the phone’s home screen. It features voice search, Search Assist for quick suggestions and recommendations, and auto-locate technology to deliver locally relevant results.

Finally, there’s the HTML5-based Yahoo Mail, which is optimized for iPhone and iPod touch. It lets users view HTML messages and compose rich text messages, as well as reply, search e-mails and access folders while offline. Users can also manage folders and create smart folders with messages from key contacts, as well as surface photos and video attachments directly within the mail preview.
You can install the three Android apps by scanning the QR codes below with your Android phone.
