How to Send Free & Unlimited Text Messages via WiFi for iPod Touch & iPhones?

gI_0_textPluslogoGot too much to say but want to avoid the hefty SMS cost? Well, I would suggest you trying out a newly-launched iPhone app called textPlus that enables iPod Touch and iPhone users to send free and unlimited text messages via WiFi. Yes, this is seriously real and not a joke! Developed by GOGII, Inc., a Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers iFund company and platform innovator focused on messaging technology and applications, has released the unique messaging application on the Apple App Store today.

Besides allowing iPhone fanatics to send free and unlimited text messages with no cell, edge or 3G required, users can also have true group conversations, much like you can in chatrooms. With this ‘chatroom’ feature, you can text with several friends, all at once and everyone in the group gets every message. A useful ‘reply-all’ feature, similar to email, makes it easier to organize plans with several friends at the same time, introduce people to each other or just carry on a group conversation - all in text and all for free.

You’ll never miss an incoming message when you enable optional SMS notifications, even when the app is closed. But of course, the standard SMS rates apply. By the way, your friend doesn’t even have to have an iPhone or iPod Touch. Thanks to GOGII technology, they still can get a regular texts (SMS) (standard rates apply) and will be able to take part in the conversation as well. GOGII’s a pretty powerful platform.

Additional features include landscape keyboard mode, which makes it easier and faster to write texts, and Notifications to let users know when they have received messages, even when they are not using the application. textPlus also provides a seamless experience for users to interact with their friends who use standard text messaging.

“We’re excited consumers can use textPlus to easily create and manage group text conversations with as many or as few people as they choose, in addition to one-to-one communication,” said Scott Lahman, CEO and co-founder, GOGII. “textPlus for iPhone and iPod touch brings more fun, social and useful functionality to text and is the first step toward what we believe is the future of messaging.”
